Heathrow Terminal 5
London Heathrow terminal 5 is due to open today by the Queen in a special opening ceremony. The new terminal which cost over £4 billion pounds to build and will have 60 aircraft stands by 2010, over 3,800 parking spaces, 20 security lanes and 112 retail units.
The new terminal will be used by British Airways and the first passenegers to use the terminal will step off a flight from Hong Kong in two weeks. Other airlines have complained that BA are the only airline to benefit from the new facilities. The terminal will be for the sole use of BA for international flights, and UK flights from Manchester, Newcastle and Scotland.
